Depuis le début des années 1990, KOO JEONG A travaille à la croisée de l’art, de la science et de la métaphysique, réalisant des œuvres qui amplifient la perception et nous relient aux forces invisibles qui habitent le réel. Entre précision conceptuelle et expérience sensorielle intime, ses créations cultivent l’éphémère, la transformation et l’entropie, donnant naissance à des environnements aussi minimalistes que profondément affectifs. KOO JEONG A est connue pour son approche synesthésique et sa pratique multiforme, où coexistent dessin, peinture, sculpture, installation, film, son, animation, réalité augmentée et architecture. En intégrant des éléments immatériels tels que la lumière, les variations de température, les odeurs ou les sons, l’artiste a développé un lexique formel multisensoriel qui nous invite à dépasser le registre purement visuel. La plus vaste exposition consacrée à KOO JEONG A en France à ce jour, LAND OF OUSSS [KANGSE] réunit des œuvres majeures et des créations inédites, réalisées entre 2007 et aujourd’hui. Sculptures, installation olfactive, peintures phosphorescentes et dessins à l’encre intimistes composent un parcours qui prolonge les recherches de l’artiste autour du mouvement, de l’apesanteur, de la lévitation et des vides. « OUSSS », terme inventé par KOO JEONG A, se décline en son, substance, être ou lieu tout à la fois physique et mental, territoire personnel et mouvant. KOO JEONG A réalise fréquemment des œuvres in situ qui associent forces invisibles et phénomènes naturels – gravité, champs magnétiques, phosphorescence – à des idées spéculatives, des imaginaires étranges et des souvenirs intimes. Déployée sur deux niveaux de La Tour, l’exposition comprend [KANGSE SpSt] (2024), une figure en lévitation diffusant des odeurs qui nous accueille dans le Drum de LUMA Arles, et une série de sculptures en bois finement façonnées selon la logique du ruban de Möbius. Les installations dialoguent avec l’esthétique monumentale de Frank Gehry et l’histoire d’Arles, donnant lieu à un jeu subtil d’échos et de reflets. Les sculptures rocheuses in situ [EVER] [VAST] (2025) résonnent avec la structure sinueuse de La Tour, elle-même inspirée par les amas de rochers élancés des Alpilles voisines. [SEVEN STARS] (2020), une série de peintures luminescentes, évoque quant à elle inévitablement La Nuit étoilée (1889) de Van Gogh. Par des gestes imperceptibles et des installations immersives à grande échelle dans l’espace public, KOO JEONG A tisse des cosmologies sensibles qui troublent nos perceptions habituelles du temps, de l’espace et de la matérialité, ouvrant des portails vers des dimensions alternatives. L’univers d’« OUSSS » dessine un espace énigmatique où s’entrelacent matières telluriques et cosmiques, invitant à repenser notre relation aux éléments invisibles qui forment notre réalité.

Since the early 1990s, KOO JEONG A has been working at the crossroads of art, science and metaphysics, creating works that amplify perception and connect us to the invisible forces that inhabit reality. Between conceptual precision and intimate sensory experience, his creations cultivate ephemerality, transformation and entropy, giving rise to environments as minimalist as they are deeply affective. KOO JEONG A is known for her synesthetic approach and multifaceted practice, in which drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, film, sound, animation, augmented reality and architecture coexist. By integrating immaterial elements such as light, temperature variations, smells and sounds, the artist has developed a multi-sensory formal lexicon that invites us to go beyond the purely visual. The largest exhibition devoted to KOO JEONG A in France to date, LAND OF OUSSS [KANGSE] brings together major works and previously unseen creations created between 2007 and the present day. Sculptures, olfactory installations, phosphorescent paintings and intimate ink drawings make up a journey that continues the artist's research into movement, weightlessness, levitation and voids. "OUSSS", a term coined by KOO JEONG A, refers to sound, substance, being or place, both physical and mental, a personal and shifting territory. KOO JEONG A frequently creates site-specific works that combine invisible forces and natural phenomena – gravity, magnetic fields, phosphorescence – with speculative ideas, strange imaginings and intimate memories. Spread over two levels of La Tour, the exhibition includes [KANGSE SpSt] (2024), a levitating, scent-scented figure that welcomes us into the Drum at LUMA Arles, and a series of finely crafted wooden sculptures based on the logic of the Möbius strip. The installations dialogue with Frank Gehry's monumental aesthetic and the history of Arles, creating a subtle interplay of echoes and reflections. The in situ rock sculptures [EVER] [VAST] (2025) resonate with the sinuous structure of La Tour, itself inspired by the slender boulders of the nearby Alpilles. [SEVEN STARS] (2020), a series of luminescent paintings, inevitably evokes Van Gogh's Starry Night (1889). Through imperceptible gestures and large-scale immersive installations in public spaces, KOO JEONG A weaves sensitive cosmologies that unsettle our habitual perceptions of time, space and materiality, opening portals to alternative dimensions. The universe of "OUSSS" sketches out an enigmatic space where telluric and cosmic materials intertwine, inviting us to rethink our relationship with the invisible elements that make up our reality.

LAND OF OUSSS [KANGSE] ist die bisher umfangreichste Ausstellung über KOO JEONG A in Frankreich und vereint Hauptwerke und bisher unveröffentlichte Kreationen, die zwischen 2007 und heute entstanden sind. Skulpturen, eine Duftinstallation, phosphoreszierende Gemälde und intime Tuschezeichnungen bilden einen Parcours, der die Forschungen des Künstlers rund um Bewegung, Schwerelosigkeit, Levitation und Leere weiterführt. Der von KOO JEONG A geprägte Begriff "OUSSS" umfasst Klang, Substanz, Wesen oder Ort, die gleichzeitig physisch und mental sind, ein persönliches und bewegliches Territorium. KOO JEONG A schafft häufig Werke in situ, die unsichtbare Kräfte und Naturphänomene – Schwerkraft, Magnetfelder, Phosphoreszenz – mit spekulativen Ideen, seltsamen Vorstellungen und intimen Erinnerungen verbinden. Die auf zwei Ebenen des La Tour ausgebreitete Ausstellung umfasst [KANGSE SpSt] (2024), eine schwebende, Gerüche verbreitende Figur, die uns im Drum der LUMA Arles empfängt, und eine Reihe von fein geformten Holzskulpturen nach der Logik des Möbiusbandes.
