Le genre Barbershop vient du sud des Etats-Unis, au début des années 1900. À cette époque, les hommes fréquentaient les salons de coiffure ou barbiers pour leur aspect social (d’où le nom Barbershop); ils chantaient ensemble des chansons populaires, créant de toute pièce des harmonies vocales autour d’une mélodie. Le quatuor barbershop est une formation de 4 chanteurs à capella, les syllabes sont chantées simultanément et le lied a la voix principale. Ce genre a pris une place importante dans le paysage américain, notamment dans les comédies musicales de l’époque. Il s’agit d’un genre qui a évolué : le concept de quatuor s’est rapidement transformé en choeur dirigé par un chef d’orchestre. Il couvre désormais beaucoup de styles et de répertoires différents comme le gospel, le jazz, le doo-wap, la soul mais aussi le blues, le rock, la pop music. Depuis plus de quinze ans, le Choeur Phocéen, composé de 48 chanteurs, met à disposition le nombre de chanteurs adaptés à chaque ouvrage lyrique dans le cadre des productions du théâtre municipal de l’Odéon, à Marseille. Il a déjà participé à plus de 170 productions d’opérettes et d’opéras comiques. Depuis cinq ans, il a élargi son horizon en se produisant également dans d’autres lieux et dans des créations originales aux inspirations contemporaines : Noël Anglais, Concerts d’airs d’opéra, baroque, le Requiem de Fauré, et dernièrement des Barbers Shop. The Barbershop genre originated in the American South in the early 1900s. In those days, men frequented barbershops for their social aspect (hence the name Barbershop); they sang popular songs together, creating vocal harmonies around a melody. The barbershop quartet is a formation of 4 a capella singers, with the syllables sung simultaneously and the lieder in the lead voice. This genre played an important role in American musicals of the time musicals of the time. The genre has evolved from a quartet to a conductor-led choir. It now covers many different styles and repertoires, including gospel, jazz, doo-wap and soul, as well as blues, rock and pop music. For over fifteen years, the 48-strong Choeur Phocéen has been providing the right number of singers for each opera production at Marseille?s Théâtre municipal de l?Odéon. It has already taken part in over 170 productions of operettas and comic operas. Over the past five years, he has broadened his horizons, performing in other venues and in original creations with contemporary inspirations: Noël Anglais, Concerts d?airs d?opéra, baroque, Fauré?s Requiem, and most recently Barbers Shop. Das Genre Barbershop stammt aus dem Süden der USA, aus den frühen 1900er Jahren. Damals besuchten Männer Friseursalons oder Barbiere aus sozialen Gründen (daher der Name Barbershop). Das Barbershop-Quartett besteht aus vier A-cappella-Sängern, wobei die Silben gleichzeitig gesungen werden und das Lied die Hauptstimme hat. Dieses Genre nahm in den USA einen wichtigen Platz ein, vor allem in den Musicals der der damaligen Zeit. Es handelt sich um ein Genre, das sich weiterentwickelt hat: Aus dem Konzept des Quartetts wurde schnell ein Chor, der von einem Dirigenten geleitet wird. Es umfasst heute viele verschiedene Stile und Repertoires wie Gospel, Jazz, Doo-Wap, Soul, aber auch Blues, Rock und Popmusik. Seit mehr als fünfzehn Jahren stellt der Choeur Phocéen, der aus 48 Sängern besteht, im Rahmen der Produktionen des Stadttheaters Odéon in Marseille für jedes lyrische Werk die passende Anzahl an Sängern zur Verfügung. Das Ensemble hat bereits an über 170 Produktionen von Operetten und komischen Opern mitgewirkt. In den letzten fünf Jahren hat er seinen Horizont erweitert und tritt auch an anderen Orten und mit zeitgenössischen Kreationen auf: Englische Weihnachten, Konzerte mit Opernarien, Barock, Faurés Requiem und zuletzt Barbers Shop.
