A small town with preserved intimacy, Trémaouézan shelters a treasure which knows how to surprise its visitors: a parish enclosure of a great wealth, of which certain elements are comparable in all points to the largest enclosures of the region. The church of Notre-Dame de Trémaouézan was built around 1500. The gothic ossuary, which is contemporary to it, is decorated with animal figures. From the end of the 16th century, the threat of epidemics exacerbated the religious fervor of the people who flocked in pilgrimage to this parish endowed with 2 sacred fountains (one under the patronage of the Virgin Mary, the other under that of Saint John the Baptist). It is thanks to this impetus that for more than a century the church was repeatedly redesigned and considerably enlarged, offering us today a mixture of gothic and renaissance styles. The search for excellence is everywhere: A monumental Renaissance porch was built in 1610, and contains one of the most remarkable sets chiseled by the Landerne sculptor Rolland Doré: the statues of the Apostles (note the moon sculpted above the canopies crowning the apostles). Inside, the various baroque altarpieces are models of their kind: very rich polychromy, careful sculptures and well studied arrangement of the elements. Like the baptistery (which recalls the episode of the baptism of Christ), these ensembles offer a very pictorial interpretation with the aim of enlightening the faith of the faithful. The enclosure of Trémaouézan abounds in a multitude of details of the most surprising for those who take the time to discover them!
