Description

In 2014, Yann Lestréhan and Sylvain Bertrand embarked on an unusual tour of Brittany. Their goal: to visit around thirty old bistros spread across the five historic Breton departments. Their approach was simple and sincere, far removed from any tourist or scientific ambitions. They wanted to meet the men and women who still keep these places alive, these counters full of history. Because bistros are slowly but surely disappearing, taking with them a part of Breton culture. And yet, a Brittany without its bistros would be unimaginable.
These places of passage are first and foremost places of bonds, confidences and humanity. The result is a book entitled Bistrots, rades et comptoirs, combining stories, portraits, photos and slices of life. The road trip also inspired an exhibition, which will be on view on the Quatro mezzanine. A sensitive plunge into the warm and sometimes forgotten world of Breton bistros.
Sylvain Bertrand, a committed writer and editor, contributes his pen. Yann Lestréhan, nurse and amateur photographer, shares his sensitive and inquisitive eye. Accessible during opening hours.
