VESTIGES DE L'EGLISE DE SAINT-CIZY – Cazères

Ancienne cité installée sur l'itinéraire d'Antonin – Aquis Siccis – La voie antique qui reliait Toulouse à la Narbonnaise et à l'Aquitaine. La petite église paroissiale de Saint-Cizy, aujourd’hui en ruines, servait la commune indépendante de Saint-Cizy, réunie à Cazères par ordonnance royale en 1842. C’est ici que serait mort Cizy, preux chevalier carolingien, à l’issue d’un combat contre les Sarrazins d’Espagne au VIIIe ou IXe siècle. En effet, certains historiens pensent qu'il était un soldat de Charlemagne, sous les ordres de Saint-Vidian : Le martyre d'Angonia.
