L’Église Saint-Symphorien – Romans

En 1099 l'évêque de Poitiers, Pierre II, donne à l'abbaye de Saint-Maixent l'église de Romans . L'église a pour titulaire saint Symphorien, martyr à Autun au milieu du 3e siècle pour avoir refusé de sacrifier aux idoles. En 1798 l'église romane de Romans a été vendue comme bien national au sieur P.H. Frappier pour 4600 francs. Au milieu du 19e siècle on décide de construire une église pour la paroisse. Faute de fonds, on supprime le transept, le projet de clocher fut ajourné. Le clocher est finalement construit en 1873 et est placé à gauche du chœur. L'église a conservé ses 12 croix de consécration peintes (bleu et or) sur les murs nord et sud.
