Surplombant Salies, le Château Comtal au donjon imposant laisse imaginer, par sa localisation et les restes de ses remparts, l’importance stratégique de l’édifice imprenable construit au XIII° siècle par les Comtes de Comminges. Le Donjon, tour carrée aux murs de 1,43 m d'épaisseur, daterait du XII° siècle. La Chapelle Castrale aujourd’hui ruinée, est un témoignage de l’époque romane tardive et gothique. Elle conserve quelques éléments d’architecture (portes et fenêtres ogivales …) ainsi que des chapiteaux décorés (XIV° siècle) et un typique clocher à pignon. Depuis la plateforme, vous bénéficierez d’un point de vue sur la chaîne des Pyrénées, sur la vallée du Salat en amont et en aval de la ville, sur le lac des Isles, ainsi que d’un panorama sur la ville. — Un guide de découverte de la ville vous attend à l'Office de tourisme.
