La chapelle Sainte Croix – Seppois-le-Haut

Certains historiens disent que cette chapelle de la Sainte-Croix nous fait remonter le temps jusqu’au XIème siècle. Haut lieu de culte à travers les époques, elle a été régulièrement entretenue, notamment en 1620 et 1862. Après 1848, date de la construction de la première église Saint-Hubert, sa vocation cultuelle est devenue secondaire, mais sa place est demeurée forte dans le village, servant notamment d’infirmerie pendant la première guerre mondiale et de lieu de culte entre 1916 et 1928 en remplacement de l’église détruite. Aujourd’hui, expositions, conférences, soirées musicales poétiques ou cinématographiques, cérémonies et réceptions spécifiques et tout simplement visites touristiques marquent ce lieu, qui dans le cœur des seppoisiens et dans notre conscience collective restera toujours la chapelle de la Sainte Croix.

Some historians say that this chapel of the Holy Cross takes us back in time to the 11th century. A high place of worship throughout the ages, it has been regularly maintained, notably in 1620 and 1862. After 1848, when the first Saint-Hubert church was built, its religious vocation became secondary, but its place remained strong in the village, serving notably as an infirmary during the First World War and as a place of worship between 1916 and 1928 to replace the destroyed church. Today, exhibitions, conferences, poetic or cinematographic musical evenings, specific ceremonies and receptions and simply tourist visits mark this place, which in the hearts of the people of Seppo and in our collective consciousness will always remain the Chapel of the Holy Cross.

Einige Historiker sagen, dass diese Kapelle des Heiligen Kreuzes uns in der Zeit bis ins 11. Jahrhundert zurückversetzt. Jahrhundert zurückverfolgen. Sommige historici zeggen dat deze kapel van het Heilig Kruis ons terugbrengt in de tijd naar de 11e eeuw. Het is door de eeuwen heen een belangrijke plaats van aanbidding geweest en is regelmatig onderhouden, met name in 1620 en 1862. Algunos historiadores dicen que esta capilla de la Santa Cruz nos transporta al siglo XI. Ha sido un lugar de culto a lo largo de los tiempos y se ha mantenido regularmente, sobre todo en 1620 y 1862. Después de 1848, cuando se construyó la primera iglesia de Saint-Hubert, su vocación religiosa pasó a ser secundaria, pero su lugar se mantuvo firme en el pueblo, sirviendo en particular como enfermería durante la Primera Guerra Mundial y como lugar de culto entre 1916 y 1928, sustituyendo a la iglesia destruida. Hoy en día, exposiciones, conferencias, veladas musicales, poéticas o cinematográficas, ceremonias y recepciones especiales y simplemente visitas turísticas marcan este lugar, que en el corazón de los habitantes de Seppois y en nuestra conciencia colectiva seguirá siendo siempre la Capilla de la Santa Cruz.

Secondo alcuni storici, questa cappella della Santa Croce ci riporta indietro nel tempo fino all'XI secolo. Importante luogo di culto nel corso dei secoli, è stato sottoposto a regolari interventi di manutenzione, in particolare nel 1620 e nel 1862. Dopo il 1848, quando fu costruita la prima chiesa di Saint-Hubert, la sua vocazione religiosa divenne secondaria, ma il suo posto rimase forte nel villaggio, servendo in particolare come infermeria durante la prima guerra mondiale e come luogo di culto tra il 1916 e il 1928, in sostituzione della chiesa distrutta. Oggi, mostre, conferenze, serate musicali, poetiche o cinematografiche, cerimonie e ricevimenti speciali e semplici visite turistiche contraddistinguono questo luogo, che nel cuore dei seppesi e nella nostra coscienza collettiva rimarrà sempre la Cappella della Santa Croce.
