Église Saint-Martial – Montmorillon

Une première église est construite au 12ème siècle et se situe au cœur d’un faubourg de la ville de Montmorillon. Au 19ème siècle, jugé trop petit et en mauvais état, l’édifice est reconstruit à l’exception de l’ancien chœur et de la tour de clocher datant de l’époque romane. Ces éléments sont encore visibles dans la partie orientale. De style néogothique, ce nouvel édifice présente aussi un mobilier très homogène datant de la même époque : chaire, orgue, vitraux. Ces derniers, en particulier, forment un ensemble de grande qualité témoignant des goûts religieux de l’époque et de la vie économique et sociale de la ville de Montmorillon. Inscription aux Monuments Historiques en 1984.

A first church was built in the 12th century and was located in the heart of a suburb of the town of Montmorillon. In the 19th century, judged too small and in bad condition, the building was rebuilt except for the old choir and the bell tower dating from the Romanesque period. These elements are still visible in the eastern part. The new building is in the neo-Gothic style and has a very homogeneous furniture from the same period: pulpit, organ, stained glass windows. The latter, in particular, form an ensemble of great quality testifying to the religious tastes of the time and to the economic and social life of the town of Montmorillon. Registered as a Historic Monument in 1984.

Eine erste Kirche wurde im 12. Jahrhundert erbaut und befand sich im Herzen eines Vorortes der Stadt Montmorillon. Jahrhundert als zu klein und in schlechtem Zustand befunden und mit Ausnahme des alten Chors und des Glockenturms aus der romanischen Epoche wieder aufgebaut. Diese Elemente sind im östlichen Teil noch sichtbar. Das neue Gebäude im neugotischen Stil weist auch ein sehr einheitliches Mobiliar aus derselben Epoche auf: Kanzel, Orgel, Glasfenster. Vor allem letztere bilden ein Ensemble von hoher Qualität, das vom religiösen Geschmack der damaligen Zeit und vom wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Leben der Stadt Montmorillon zeugt. Eintragung als historisches Monument im Jahr 1984.

De eerste kerk werd gebouwd in de 12e eeuw en ligt in het hart van een buitenwijk van de stad Montmorillon. In de 19e eeuw, te klein bevonden en in slechte staat, werd het gebouw herbouwd met uitzondering van het oude koor en de klokkentoren uit de Romaanse periode. Deze elementen zijn nog steeds zichtbaar in het oostelijke deel. Het nieuwe gebouw is in neogotische stijl en heeft een zeer vergelijkbare inrichting uit dezelfde periode: preekstoel, orgel en gebrandschilderde ramen. Vooral deze laatste vormen een ensemble van grote kwaliteit, dat getuigt van de religieuze smaak van die tijd en van het economische en sociale leven van de stad Montmorillon. Geregistreerd als Historisch Monument in 1984.

La primera iglesia fue construida en el siglo XII y está situada en el corazón de un suburbio de la ciudad de Montmorillon. En el siglo XIX, juzgado demasiado pequeño y en mal estado, el edificio fue reconstruido con la excepción del antiguo coro y el campanario de la época románica. Estos elementos aún son visibles en la parte oriental. El nuevo edificio es de estilo neogótico y tiene un mobiliario muy similar al de la misma época: púlpito, órgano y vidrieras. Estas últimas, en particular, forman un conjunto de gran calidad, que da testimonio del gusto religioso de la época y de la vida económica y social de la ciudad de Montmorillon. Registrado como Monumento Histórico en 1984.

Nel XIX secolo, giudicato troppo piccolo e in cattive condizioni, l'edificio fu ricostruito ad eccezione dell'antico coro e del campanile di epoca romanica. Questi elementi sono ancora visibili nella parte orientale. Il nuovo edificio è in stile neogotico e presenta un arredamento molto simile a quello dell'epoca: pulpito, organo e vetrate. Questi ultimi, in particolare, formano un insieme di grande qualità, testimoniando il gusto religioso dell'epoca e la vita economica e sociale della città di Montmorillon.
