Eglise Saint Jean Baptiste de Ponson – Carcen-Ponson

Inscrite Monument historique en 2005, l’église St Jean Baptiste de Ponson à Carcen Ponson date du XIIème siècle. Fortifié et surplombant la Midouze, cet édifice est formé à l'époque romane d'une nef et d'une travée comprise entre une abside semi-circulaire et un clocher-mur. Au Moyen-Age, une nouvelle travée fut adossée au clocher. Au XVIIème siècle furent ajoutés un porche, une tour d'escalier et deux chapelles latérales. La sacristie, elle, date du XVIIIème. Au XIXème, les deux chapelles latérales furent reconstruites et terminées en abside. Sous le chœur se trouve une chapelle romane voûtée, sans doute une crypte.

Listed as a Historic Monument in 2005, the church of St Jean Baptiste de Ponson in Carcen Ponson dates from the 12th century. Fortified and overlooking the Midouze, this building is formed in the Romanesque period of a nave and a span between a semicircular apse and a bell-tower-wall. In the Middle Ages, a new bay was added to the bell tower. In the 17th century, a porch, a stair tower and two side chapels were added. The sacristy dates from the 18th century. In the 19th century, the two side chapels were rebuilt and finished in the apse. Under the choir is a Romanesque vaulted chapel, probably a crypt.

Die Kirche St Jean Baptiste de Ponson in Carcen Ponson wurde 2005 als historisches Monument eingetragen und stammt aus dem 12. Jahrhundert. Das befestigte Gebäude, das den Fluss Midouze überragt, bestand in der romanischen Epoche aus einem Kirchenschiff und einem Joch zwischen einer halbrunden Apsis und einer Glockenmauer. Im Mittelalter wurde ein weiteres Joch an den Glockenturm angebaut. Im 17. Jahrhundert wurden eine Vorhalle, ein Treppenturm und zwei Seitenkapellen hinzugefügt. Die Sakristei stammt aus dem 18. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurden die beiden Seitenkapellen umgebaut und in einer Apsis abgeschlossen. Unter dem Chor befindet sich eine gewölbte romanische Kapelle, bei der es sich wahrscheinlich um eine Krypta handelt.
