Église Notre-Dame d'Antigny – Antigny

L’église Notre-Dame, édifiée à l’époque romane, a été reprise à l’époque gothique. Son intérêt tient notamment au décor de peintures murales daté du 12ème et du 14ème siècle qui ornent une grande partie de l’édifice. Dans la chapelle Sainte-Catherine, ancienne chapelle seigneuriale contigüe à l’église, les peintures, datées de la fin du 15ème siècle, rappellent celles visibles à la Chapelle Sainte-Catherine de Jouhet et dans l’oratoire privé du château de Bois-Morand à Antigny. Elles semblent toutes avoir été commanditées par la même famille seigneuriale. Classement aux Monuments Historiques en 1862 et 1913. Un pupitre patrimonial installé à l’entrée vous délivrera des informations sur ce monument. Attention, des travaux de restauration sont prévus en 2025, se renseigner auprès de la mairie d'Antigny.

The church of Notre-Dame, built in the Romanesque period, was rebuilt in the Gothic period. Its interest lies in the mural paintings dating from the 12th and 14th centuries that decorate a large part of the building. In the Sainte-Catherine chapel, a former seigneurial chapel adjacent to the church, the paintings, dated from the end of the 15th century, are reminiscent of those visible in the Sainte-Catherine chapel in Jouhet and in the private oratory of the Bois-Morand castle in Antigny.
