EGLISE DE POULANGY – Poulangy

L'église de Poulangy était le siège d'une cure à la collation de l'abbesse de Poulangy avec Louvières pour succursale. Le roi de France était seigneur du lieu puis les religieuses de Poulangy lui achetèrent la seigneurie en 1583. L'église Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité fut édifiée au 13ème siècle. La chapelle au nord du chœur a été ajoutée au 14ème siècle. A cette occasion, les toitures du bas-côté nord et de la chapelle ont été alignées (surhaussement du mur du bas-côté nord avec ses modillons). C'est probablement à cette époque également que le triplet du chevet fut transformé en baie gothique. La tour du clocher, qui se trouvait primitivement sur la nef, fut reconstruite à son emplacement actuel en 1739 (date inscrite sur la corniche sud).

The church of Poulangy was the seat of a parish administered by the abbess of Poulangy, with Louvières as a branch. The King of France was lord of the place, and the nuns of Poulangy bought the seigneury from him in 1583. The church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité was built in the 13th century. The chapel to the north of the choir was added in the 14th century. At the same time, the roofs of the north aisle and the chapel were aligned (raising the wall of the north aisle with its modillions). It was probably also at this time that the triplet in the chevet was transformed into a Gothic bay. The bell tower, which originally stood on the nave, was rebuilt in its present location in 1739 (date inscribed on the south cornice).
