Description

"(?) Mehdi Kerkouche paints a brilliant portrait of heritages suffered, fraternities and sororities entwined ? ResMusica
A protean artist, Mehdi Kerkouche has choreographed for Christine and the Queens and Adèle, produced a viral video on social networks during the confinement, then created a piece for the Paris Opéra ballet. With Portrait, this young French dance prodigy chooses the subject of family heritage, intra-familial ties and filiation as the material for an inventive, sober and lively choreography.
Nine dancers with a wealth of personalities give shape to a touching and invigorating family portrait. Relationships evolve and personalities change as the sequences unfold, to the rhythm of electro-pop music. The choreographer achieves a fusion of styles – hip-hop, street jazz, cabaret – with a circus performer and a "Duncanian" dancer (in reference to Isadora Duncan). Portrait presents a contemporary family photo through a mosaic of temperaments and energies.
