Description

Faithful to its original principle of full days of Baroque music at the beginning of the summer, in 2025 the festival offers a new itinerary of five Sundays and twelve concerts.
Two or three programs per date, organized around different themes, a convivial encounter and exchanges with the artists, as well as the possibility of lunch on site, form the identity of an ambitious project that finds an ideal setting in the exceptional abbey site. Naples in the orbit of Venice through Monteverdi and Cavalli, two of the most eminent figures of nascent Baroque opera. Pages composed or heard in Naples, such as the revival of the Coronation of Poppea, or the little-known opera Il Ciro de Provenzale, reworked in Venice by Cavalli, brilliant testimonies to an artistic hotbed in full bloom at the end of the 17th century. From duets to sinfonias and sonatas, a new vocal and instrumental musical language, where poetry and affetti guide singing and emotion.
