Depuis deux décennies, le chœur fait vivre le chant polyphonique dans le Grand Est. Vingt années de concerts, de rencontres et de partage autour d'une même passion.

Following the success of the concerts in Phalsbourg and Fénétrange in September, as part of European Heritage Days, the Novo Genere vocal ensemble invites you to BITCHE, in the magnificent Sainte-Catherine Church, for a true musical journey through the ages, styles, and cultures. 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of the Novo Genere vocal ensemble and a turning point. For two decades, the choir has kept polyphonic singing alive in the Grand Est region. Twenty years of concerts, encounters, and sharing a common passion.
Jacky Locks, who had led the Novo Genere choir since its founding, has stepped down as conductor. Musical direction is now in the hands of Maxime Guyot, who already knows the choir’s DNA so well. With technical rigor and artistic creativity, he is leading Novo Genere toward new horizons. The ensemble’s 17 choristers, with their solid vocal training, will be accompanied by two talented musicians: cellist Léopoldine Lezean and pianist Stéphane Escoms. An eclectic and rich program of some twenty borderless pieces will blend sacred music, classical music, gospel, international pop, and French chanson.
Alternating between pieces performed a cappella—ranging from 4 to11 voices at times, and pieces accompanied by cello and piano, the artists will present a nuanced concert where the richness of the harmonies will interact with the venue’s acoustics. Admission: voluntary donation
