D'Oloron-Sainte-Marie à Sarrance – Oloron-Sainte-Marie

Ne soyez pas pressé de quitter Oloron, la vieille et belle capitale du Haut-Béarn. Mais lorsque vous le ferez enfin, du haut de Sainte-Croix, vous ferez face à l’échancrure que le gave d’Aspe a creusé dans la muraille pyrénéenne. C’est précisément ce même gave que suit le chemin que vous allez emprunter. Auparavant, il aura musardé dans la campagne. Puis soudain vous entrez dans un profond défilé, intimiste à souhait jusqu'au niveau de Sarrance, haut lieu de la chrétienté tout autant que de l’ancienne religion pyrénéenne … Attention, à partir d’Escot, le chemin devient un chemin de montagne « classique » avec des petits chemins et parfois des dévers à l’aplomb du Gave)

Don’t be in a hurry to leave Oloron, the beautiful old capital of Haut-Béarn. But when you finally do, from the top of Sainte-Croix, you’ll look out over the gorge that the Gave d’Aspe has carved into the Pyrenean mountain wall. It is precisely this same Gave that the trail you’re about to take follows. Before that, it will have meandered through the countryside. Then suddenly you’ll enter a deep gorge, as secluded as you could wish for, all the way to Sarrance—a major center of Christianity as well as of the ancient Pyrenean religion? Be careful: starting from Escot, the trail becomes a “classic” mountain trail with narrow paths and, at times, steep drops straight down to the Gave.

Doch wenn Sie es schließlich doch tun, werden Sie von der Anhöhe von Sainte-Croix aus auf die Schlucht blicken, die der Gave d’Aspe in die Pyrenäenwand gegraben hat. Genau diesem Gave folgt der Weg, den Sie einschlagen werden. Zuvor wird er gemächlich durch die Landschaft geschlängelt sein. Dann gelangen Sie plötzlich in eine tiefe Schlucht, die bis nach Sarrance hinab so intim ist, wie man es sich nur wünschen kann – ein bedeutender Ort sowohl des Christentums als auch der alten pyrenäischen Religion? Achtung: Ab Escot wird der Weg zu einem „klassischen“ Bergweg mit schmalen Pfaden und manchmal steilen Abhängen direkt über dem Gave.

Haast u niet om Oloron, de oude en prachtige hoofdstad van de Haut-Béarn, te verlaten. Maar wanneer u dat uiteindelijk toch doet, kijkt u vanaf de top van Sainte-Croix uit op de kloof die de Gave d’Aspe in de Pyreneeënwand heeft uitgeslepen. Het is precies deze Gave die het pad volgt dat u gaat nemen. Daarvoor zal het wat door het platteland hebben gedwaald. Dan kom je plotseling in een diepe kloof terecht, die zo intiem is als je maar kunt wensen, tot aan Sarrance, een belangrijk centrum van zowel het christendom als de oude Pyrenese religie? Let op: vanaf Escot verandert het pad in een „klassiek“ bergpad met smalle paadjes en soms steile hellingen die loodrecht op de Gave afdalen.

Es precisamente este mismo Gave el que sigue el camino que vas a tomar. Antes, habrá discurrido tranquilamente por el campo. De repente, entraréis en un profundo desfiladero, tan íntimo como se pueda desear, hasta llegar a Sarrance, lugar emblemático tanto del cristianismo como de la antigua religión pirenaica. Atención: a partir de Escot, el camino se convierte en un «clásico» sendero de montaña, con pequeños senderos y, en ocasiones, desvanes a picado del Gave.

Poi, all’improvviso, entrerete in una profonda gola, intima a volere, fino all’altezza di Sarrance, luogo sacro tanto per il cristianesimo quanto per l’antica religione pirenaica? Attenzione: a partire da Escot, il sentiero diventa un «classico» sentiero di montagna con piccoli sentieri e, a volte, strapiombi a picco sul Gave.
