L’Observatoire de Besançon – Besançon

Inauguré en 1884, il est un centre de recherche en astrophysique et mesure du temps. Fondé pour soutenir l'industrie horlogère locale, l’observatoire est encore aujourd'hui, un haut lieu de la production du temps reconnu à l'international. Ses bâtiments accueillent encore de nombreux instruments scientifiques comme sa lunette méridienne.

Inaugurated in 1884, it is a centre for research into astrophysics and the measurement of time. Founded to support the local watchmaking industry, the observatory is still an internationally recognised centre for the production of time. Its buildings still house a number of scientific instruments, including its meridian telescope.

Es wurde 1884 eingeweiht und ist ein Forschungszentrum für Astrophysik und Zeitmessung. Das Observatorium wurde zur Unterstützung der örtlichen Uhrenindustrie gegründet und ist noch heute eine international anerkannte Hochburg der Zeitmessung. In seinen Gebäuden sind noch immer zahlreiche wissenschaftliche Instrumente wie das Meridianfernrohr untergebracht.
