La vague géante Belharra – Urrugne

Lors des tempêtes d’automne et d'hiver, au large de la Corniche Basque, se forme parfois la vague géante Belharra. Cette vague aussi rare qu’immense porte son nom en référence à l’éperon rocheux lui permettant de se former : le Belharra Perdun. Grâce à certaines conditions climatiques et à une forte houle frappant cet éperon sous-marin, des vagues de 10 à 15 mètres de haut se forment au pays basque ! Cette vague n'est surfée que par une poignée de surfeurs professionnels. Avec Nazaré au Portugal et Mullaghore en Irlande, le spot de surf de Belharra produit les plus grosses vagues d’Europe et du monde.

During autumn and winter storms, off the Basque Corniche, the giant wave Belharra sometimes forms. This wave, as rare as it is immense, bears its name in reference to the rocky spur from which it was formed: the Belharra Perdun. Thanks to certain climatic conditions and a strong swell hitting this underwater spur, waves of 10 to 15 metres high form in the Basque Country! This wave is only surfed by a handful of professional surfers. With Nazaré in Portugal and Mullaghore in Ireland, the Belharra surf spot produces the biggest waves in Europe and the world.

Bei Herbst- und Winterstürmen bildet sich vor der Küste der Corniche Basque manchmal die Riesenwelle Belharra. Diese ebenso seltene wie riesige Welle ist nach dem Felsvorsprung benannt, auf dem sie sich bilden kann: Belharra Perdun. Dank bestimmter klimatischer Bedingungen und einer starken Brandung, die auf diesen unterseeischen Sporn trifft, bilden sich im Baskenland Wellen von 10 bis 15 Metern Höhe! Diese Welle wird nur von einer Handvoll professioneller Surfer gesurft. Zusammen mit Nazaré in Portugal und Mullaghore in Irland produziert der Surfspot Belharra die größten Wellen in Europa und der ganzen Welt.

Tijdens de herfst- en winterstormen vormt zich voor de Baskische Corniche soms de reusachtige Belharra-golf. Deze golf, die even zeldzaam als immens is, is genoemd naar de rotsachtige uitloper die de vorming ervan mogelijk maakt: Belharra Perdun. Dankzij bepaalde klimatologische omstandigheden en een sterke deining die op deze onderzeese uitloper slaat, ontstaan in Baskenland golven van 10 tot 15 meter hoog! Deze golf wordt slechts door een handvol professionele surfers gesurft. Samen met Nazaré in Portugal en Mullaghore in Ierland produceert de surfspot Belharra de grootste golven van Europa en de wereld.

Durante los temporales de otoño e invierno, la ola gigante de Belharra se forma a veces frente a la Corniche Basque. Esta ola, tan rara como inmensa, recibe el nombre del espolón rocoso que permite su formación: Belharra Perdun. Gracias a ciertas condiciones climáticas y a un fuerte oleaje que golpea este espolón submarino, ¡se forman olas de 10 a 15 metros de altura en el País Vasco! Esta ola sólo es surfeada por un puñado de surfistas profesionales. Junto con Nazaré, en Portugal, y Mullaghore, en Irlanda, el spot de surf de Belharra produce las mayores olas de Europa y del mundo.

Durante le tempeste autunnali e invernali, l'onda gigante di Belharra si forma talvolta al largo della Corniche Basque. Quest'onda, tanto rara quanto immensa, prende il nome dallo sperone roccioso che ne permette la formazione: Belharra Perdun. Grazie a determinate condizioni climatiche e a una forte mareggiata che colpisce questo sperone sottomarino, nei Paesi Baschi si formano onde alte dai 10 ai 15 metri! Quest'onda viene surfata solo da pochi surfisti professionisti. Insieme a Nazaré in Portogallo e Mullaghore in Irlanda, lo spot di Belharra produce le onde più grandi d'Europa e del mondo.
