Statue de Bill Millin – Colleville-Montgomery

La statue du célèbre sonneur de cornemuse Bill Millin rend hommage à son arrivée sur Sword Beach le 6 juin 1944. Armé de sa cornemuse, il accompagne les troupes de Lord Lovat et atteint le pont de Bénouville (Pegasus Bridge) en jouant, marquant ainsi l'histoire du Débarquement.

Near the Flame is the statue of Lord Lovat and his famous piper Bill Millin, who landed in Normandy playing the bagpipes! This soldier was made famous in the film "The Longest Day". Today, his bagpipes are on display in the Pegasus Memorial museum.
