Musée Farcot – Sainville

Très tôt dans sa carrière, Eugène Farcot s'est passionné pour l'aérostatique naissante (ballons et dirigeables) , ce qui lui a permis de tisser des liens amicaux avec le célèbre photographe Nadar, et de piloter un ballon sortant de Paris encerclé par les Prussiens pendant le siège de 1870, et par ce fait concourir à la défense nationale.

It traces the life of the legatee, Eugène Farcot, who wanted to bring a museum culture to his native town, Sainville, where he was born in 1830. The layout of the collections is designed as a showcase of curiosities, as was in vogue in the 19th century. The tour will take the visitor back in time in the watch-making room. Eugène Farcot's journey as a watchmaker is told there. An ingenious and renowned watchmaker, he exhibited a monumental clock near the Queen of England's jewellery at the 1878 Universal Exhibition in Paris. Schon früh in seiner Karriere begeisterte sich Eugène Farcot für die aufkommende Aerostatik (Ballons und Luftschiffe), wodurch er eine freundschaftliche Beziehung zu dem berühmten Fotografen Nadar aufbaute und einen Ballon aus dem von den Preußen umzingelten Paris während der Belagerung von 1870 steuerte und so zur nationalen Verteidigung beitrug.
