Musée des Beaux-Arts de Tours et son jardin – Tours

L’ancien palais des Archevêques de Tours (IVe – XVIIIe s.), aujourd’hui musée des Beaux-arts, figure parmi les sites majeurs du Val de Loire. D’une richesse remarquable, il conserve l’une des plus importantes collections de primitifs italiens de France et présente, parmi ses chefs-d’œuvre, deux célèbres panneaux de Mantegna ainsi que des peintures de Rembrandt, Rubens et un exceptionnel ensemble de morceaux de réception à l’Académie royale de peinture. Dans les salons de réception, les œuvres de Boucher, Perronneau, Nattier, voisinent avec un riche mobilier qui évoque le faste du XVIIIe siècle. Les grands courants esthétiques du XIXe siècle sont représentés par des artistes tels que Delacroix, Degas, Monet, Rodin.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Tours is housed in the former Palais des Archevêques and showcases an incredible collection: Italian Primitives including two famous panels by Mantegna, paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens and a fantastic group of reception pieces submitted to the French Royal Painting Academy.
