Musée d'archéologie & du patrimoine Marius Vazeilles – Meymac

Situé dans l'ancienne abbaye bénédictine du XIe siècle au cœur du centre historique de Meymac, le Musée constitue une passionnante introduction à l'histoire de la Haute-Corrèze, des temps les plus reculés à nos jours. Il s’adresse autant aux amateurs éclairés et scientifiques qu’aux néophytes, aux adultes et aux enfants. Le musée organise une exposition temporaire annuelle, mettant en exergue une partie de ses pièces archéologiques ou patrimoniales, qui permet une (re)découverte permanente des collections. Cet ensemble riche et variée, a été récolté par Marius Vazeilles (1881 – 1973) un humaniste qui travailla à l’amélioration de la condition humaine sur le Plateau de Millevaches. Il fut ainsi forestier, archéologue, ethnologue et militant politique. En 2023 exposition temporaire intitulée "Animi et Corpora – des esprits et des corps" autours de la femme et la Gaule Romaine.

Located in the old Benedictine abbey of the 11th century in the heart of the historic center of Meymac, the museum is a fascinating introduction to the history of the Haute-Corrèze, from the earliest times to the present day. It is addressed to the enlightened and scientific amateurs as well as to the neophytes, to the adults and to the children. The museum organizes an annual temporary exhibition, highlighting a part of its archaeological or patrimonial pieces, which allows a permanent (re)discovery of the collections. This rich and varied collection was collected by Marius Vazeilles (1881 ? 1973), a humanist who worked to improve the human condition on the Plateau de Millevaches. He was a forester, archaeologist, ethnologist and political activist. In 2023 a temporary exhibition entitled "Animi et Corpora – spirits and bodies" will be held on the subject of women and Roman Gaul.

Das Museum befindet sich in der ehemaligen Benediktinerabtei aus dem 11. Jahrhundert im Herzen des historischen Zentrums von Meymac und bietet eine spannende Einführung in die Geschichte der Haute-Corrèze von den frühesten Zeiten bis in die Gegenwart. Das Museum richtet sich sowohl an interessierte Laien und Wissenschaftler als auch an Neulinge, Erwachsene und Kinder. Das Museum organisiert jedes Jahr eine Sonderausstellung, die einen Teil seiner archäologischen oder heimatkundlichen Exponate hervorhebt und eine ständige (Wieder-)Entdeckung der Sammlungen ermöglicht. El museo organiza anualmente una exposición temporal, poniendo de relieve algunas de sus piezas arqueológicas o patrimoniales, que permite (re)descubrir permanentemente las colecciones. Esta rica y variada colección fue reunida por Marius Vazeilles (1881 – 1973), un humanista que trabajó para mejorar la condición humana en la Meseta de Millevaches. Fue silvicultor, arqueólogo, etnólogo y activista político. En 2023 se organizará una exposición temporal titulada "Animi et Corpora – espíritus y cuerpos" sobre el tema de las mujeres y la Galia romana.
