Moulin d’en haut, moulin d’en bas – Montrevault-sur-Èvre

En 1905 on démonta les ailes du moulin car soumis à l’impôt et c’est en 1955 qu’une tempête emporta les restes du toit et des ailes trop vétustes du Moulin de Barot. Son nom rappelle son appartenance au proche domaine du même nom auquel se rattachait aussi le moulin à eau de Godessard. Cela permettait de moudre du grain en toute saison. Le tableau reproduit ici, qui a longtemps orné le bureau de tabac de La Chapelle-Aubry, représente un moulin de la Tourlandry dont le meunier Joseph Durand était un descendant des meuniers d’ici.

In 1905, the mill?s wings were dismantled because they were subject to taxation, and in 1955, a storm swept away the remains of the dilapidated roof and wings of the Moulin de Barot. Its name recalls the fact that it belonged to the nearby estate of the same name, to which the Godessard water mill was also attached. This enabled grain to be ground in all seasons. The painting reproduced here, which for many years graced the tobacconist's shop in La Chapelle-Aubry, depicts a mill in Tourlandry, whose miller Joseph Durand was a descendant of the local millers.
