Les Bains du Nord, espace d'exposition permanent du Frac Bourgogne – Dijon

FRAC Bourgogne Partout et maintenant Le FRAC Bourgogne naît le 9 septembre 1982 et avec lui le besoin de constituer une collection d’œuvres contemporaines. L’histoire de cette collection débute en 1984 avec l’acquisition d’œuvres de seize artistes français et internationaux, parmi lesquels Christian Boltanski, Bertrand Lavier, Tony Cragg, Gerhard Richter, Gottfried Honegger, Gloria Friedmann ou Richard Long. Les dernières acquisitions, comme celles d’œuvres de Pauline Curnier-Jardin, Laure Prouvost, Agnès Thurnauer, Julien Creuzet ou encore Élina Brotherus, poursuivent l’écriture de cette histoire. La collection du FRAC Bourgogne est aujourd’hui constituée de 836 œuvres de 294 artistes. C’est une collection ouverte, riche de sa diversité esthétique et des médiums qui y sont représentés. Le FRAC Bourgogne propose aux Bains du Nord, lieu d’exposition permanent dans la capitale régionale, un programme d’expositions notamment basé sur sa collection et son histoire. En ce moment vous pouvez y retrouvez une exposition temporaire , cette première exposition (deux autres suivront dans l’année) nous permet de découvrir le travail de ces cinq jeunes artistes sorties diplômées depuis moins de trois ans de l’ENSA de Dijon et de l’ISBA de Besançon. Entrée libre Le FRAC Bourgogne n’est pas attaché à un lieu unique de diffusion, mais au nomadisme de sa collection et à sa « valeur d’usage » pour la diffusion et la sensibilisation, en région, dans l’Hexagone et hors de celui-ci. Des expositions sont organisées dans une multiplicité de lieux partenaires en région (musées, centres culturels, établissements scolaires, administrations, espace public…) permettant une diffusion accrue de sa collection et d’investir des lieux non dévolus à l’art pour une offre inédite auprès de publics diversifiés. Le quotidien du FRAC Bourgogne se conjugue autour de son projet artistique et culturel interrogeant le récit, comme une forme ouverte permettant de rendre visible et de partager les expériences, offrant également la possibilité de décaler les points de vue. Le récit, car il a des temps et des formes, permet de dire et de montrer une histoire du visuel, en analysant les représentations, en révélant la condition des images, en soulignant la différence entre représentations et réalités. Dans le cadre de son programme artistique et culturel, le FRAC Bourgogne a choisi d’inscrire clairement la transmission dans sa programmation, par exemple en y associant et en réaffirmant son soutien aux créateur.trices. La collection du FRAC Bourgogne est mise au service de l’expression et de la réflexion de très jeunes commissaires d’exposition, et ceci dans ses murs et en dehors de ses murs. L’actualité du FRAC Bourgogne est aussi de soutenir, en le rendant possible, le travail des plasticien.nes, particulièrement au travers de résidences mises en place avec des artistes et des partenaires institutionnels en différents lieux de la région.

FRAC Bourgogne Everywhere and now The FRAC Bourgogne was founded on 9 September 1982, and with it the need to build up a collection of contemporary art. The history of this collection began in 1984 with the acquisition of works by sixteen French and international artists, including Christian Boltanski, Bertrand Lavier, Tony Cragg, Gerhard Richter, Gottfried Honegger, Gloria Friedmann and Richard Long. Recent acquisitions, including works by Pauline Curnier-Jardin, Laure Prouvost, Agnès Thurnauer, Julien Creuzet and Élina Brotherus, continue to build on this history. The FRAC Bourgogne collection now comprises 836 works by 294 artists. It is an open collection, rich in its aesthetic diversity and the mediums represented. At the Bains du Nord, a permanent exhibition space in the regional capital, the FRAC Bourgogne offers a programme of exhibitions based on its collection and history. This first exhibition (two others will follow in the course of the year) allows us to discover the work of these five young artists who graduated less than three years ago from the ENSA in Dijon and the ISBA in Besançon. Free admission The FRAC Bourgogne is not attached to a single venue, but rather to the nomadic nature of its collection and its 'use value' for dissemination and awareness-raising, in the region, in France and beyond.
