LA VIEILLE TOUR ET LE MONUMENT AUX MORTS – Gavarnie-Gèdre

À peu près à l'emplacement de l'actuel monument aux morts se trouvait autrefois une tour appelée "la vieille tour". Il s'agissait en réalité du clocher de l'ancienne église de Gèdre, probablement daté de 1927. Au pied de cette tour se trouvait le cimetière du village. Les textes du XIXème siècle parlent déjà de "vieille tour ruinée". On peut supposer en voyant certains clichés que la tour s’est effondrée toute seule. A tower called "the old tower" used to stand at about the same place as the current war memorial. It was in fact the bell tower of the old church of Gèdre, probably dated 1927. At the foot of this tower was the village cemetery. Texts from the 19th century already speak of an "old ruined tower". We can assume from certain photographs that the tower collapsed on its own. Ungefähr an der Stelle des heutigen Kriegerdenkmals stand früher ein Turm, der "la vieille tour" (der alte Turm) genannt wurde. In Wirklichkeit handelte es sich dabei um den Glockenturm der alten Kirche von Gèdre, der wahrscheinlich aus dem Jahr 1927 stammte. Am Fuße dieses Turms befand sich der Friedhof des Dorfes. In Texten aus dem 19. Jahrhundert ist bereits von einem "alten, ruinierten Turm" die Rede. Beim Anblick einiger Aufnahmen kann man vermuten, dass der Turm von selbst eingestürzt ist. Op de plaats van het huidige oorlogsmonument stond ooit een toren die bekend staat als "de oude toren". Het was in feite de klokkentoren van de oude kerk van Gèdre, waarschijnlijk uit 1927. Aan de voet van deze toren lag het dorpskerkhof. Teksten uit de 19e eeuw spreken al van een "oude vervallen toren". Uit bepaalde foto's kunnen we opmaken dat de toren uit zichzelf instortte. En el lugar donde se encuentra el actual monumento a la guerra se encontraba una torre conocida como "la vieja torre". En realidad, se trata del campanario de la antigua iglesia de Gèdre, probablemente fechado en 1927. Al pie de esta torre se encontraba el cementerio del pueblo. Los textos del siglo XIX ya hablan de una "vieja torre en ruinas". Podemos suponer, por algunas de las fotografías, que la torre se derrumbó por sí sola. Sul luogo dell'attuale monumento ai caduti sorgeva una torre nota come "la vecchia torre". Si trattava infatti del campanile della vecchia chiesa di Gédre, probabilmente datato 1927. Ai piedi di questa torre si trovava il cimitero del villaggio. I testi del XIX secolo parlano già di una "vecchia torre in rovina". Da alcune fotografie possiamo supporre che la torre sia crollata da sola. Non si conosce la data esatta della distruzione (probabilmente tra il 1920 e il 1950).
