La chapelle de Brax fût érigée au 13e siècle, sans qu’il soit possible d’identifier son propriétaire avec certitude. Église paroissiale ou chapelle ? Jusqu’à ce jour, les sources restent muettes à ce sujet.
L’indication « paroisse de Brax » ou « Brachs » apparaît en 1307. Jusqu’à la fin du siècle, elle est sous la dépendance de l’archiprêtré de Cernès et paye la dîme au Collège Saint-André de Bordeaux.
Au 15e siècle, plus aucun texte ancien ou livre de compte ne l’évoque. Cependant, dans les archives du diocèse de Bordeaux, une « chapelle de Lerre » est mentionnée à Landiras. S’agit-il de Brax ?
Dès le début du 17e siècle et jusqu’en 1763, elle relève du prieuré de Bardenac et de la Compagnie de Jésus qui entreprend des travaux de transformation. À la Révolution française, elle est rachetée par Joachim de Chalup qui la transforme en ferme, puis elle est définitivement abandonné.
