Eglise Saint-Omer

L’édifice dont la tour est érigée au XIe siècle a été largement remanié aux XVIIIe et XIXe siècles. Ses murailles épaisses, en grès brut maçonné, remontent à l’époque romane.Des fondations insuffisantes sur un sol instable, l'ajout d'un étage au XVIIIe, et d'une flèche, la foudre de 1775 et du 23 mai 1843, ont fragilisé l'église et Clovis Normand faisant un état des lieux en 1898 annonce une démolition inévitable et urgente pour éviter tout accident. La tour est donc démolie en 1899 et reconstruite en 1901, en brique et mortier, couverte en ardoise.

The building, whose tower was erected in the 11th century, was extensively remodelled in the 18th and 19th centuries. Its thick walls, made of rough sandstone masonry, date back to the Romanesque period. Insufficient foundations on unstable ground, the addition of a floor in the 18th century, and a spire, the lightning of 1775 and May 23rd 1843, have weakened the church and Clovis Normand making an inventory in 1898 announces an inevitable and urgent demolition to avoid any accident. The tower was therefore demolished in 1899 and rebuilt in 1901, in brick and mortar, covered with slate.
