Description

"La Contrebasse" (The Double Bass) This play, which combines monologue and music, takes us into the intimate world of a musician, a double bassist with the Orchestre National. The story of this "cumbersome" instrument intertwines with that of the artist. We meet him at his home before he heads off to the Opéra for the premiere of Wagner?s Rhine Gold. He tells the audience about the history of his instrument, which he describes as the biggest, the most powerful and, above all, indispensable. Without a double bass, there would be no orchestra. Then come the drawbacks of his work tool, against which the musician concentrates all his hatred, bitterness and disappointments.
