C’est dans un Rwanda meurtri par la colonisation qu’éclate en 1994 le génocide contre les Tutsis. Trente ans plus tard, les voix se rassemblent : celles des survivant·es, des témoins, des femmes qui tentent de comprendre ce que l’Histoire a brisé — et ce qu’il reste à transmettre. The Weight of a Woman est une création de Lisette Ma Neza, poétesse belgo-rwandaise. Entourée d’artistes rwandais·es, elle signe un poème scénique polyphonique mêlant musiques traditionnelles, danse et poésie déclamée. Le spectacle explore la mémoire, la filiation, le pardon et les silences laissés par la violence. Un chant de mémoire et de transmission, entre l’intime et l’Histoire.

It was in a Rwanda scarred by colonization that the genocide against the Tutsis broke out in 1994. Thirty years on, the voices of survivors, witnesses and women come together to try and understand what History has shattered? and what remains to be passed on. The Weight of a Woman was created by Lisette Ma Neza, a Belgian-Rwandan poet. Surrounded by Rwandan artists, she creates a polyphonic scenic poem combining traditional music, dance and spoken poetry. The show explores memory, filiation, forgiveness and the silences left by violence. A song of memory and transmission, between intimacy and history.

1994 brach in dem von der Kolonialisierung gezeichneten Ruanda der Völkermord an den Tutsi aus. Dreißig Jahre später versammeln sich die Stimmen der Überlebenden, der Zeugen und der Frauen, die versuchen zu verstehen, was die Geschichte zerbrochen hat und was noch weitergegeben werden muss. The Weight of a Woman ist eine Kreation der belgisch-ruandischen Dichterin Lisette Ma Neza. Zusammen mit ruandischen Künstlern hat sie ein polyphones Bühnenpoem geschaffen, das traditionelle Musik, Tanz und deklamierte Poesie miteinander verbindet. Das Stück erforscht die Erinnerung, die Abstammung, die Vergebung und das Schweigen, das die Gewalt hinterlassen hat. Ein Gesang der Erinnerung und der Weitergabe, zwischen Intimität und Geschichte.

Dertig jaar later komen stemmen samen: die van overlevenden, getuigen en vrouwen die proberen te begrijpen wat de Geschiedenis heeft verbrijzeld en wat nog doorgegeven moet worden. The Weight of a Woman werd gecreëerd door Lisette Ma Neza, een Belgisch-Rwandese dichteres. Omringd door Rwandese artiesten creëerde ze een polyfoon gedicht dat traditionele muziek, dans en gesproken poëzie combineert. De voorstelling verkent het geheugen, de verwantschap, vergeving en de stiltes die het geweld achterlaat. Een lied van herinnering en overdracht, tussen intimiteit en geschiedenis.

El peso de una mujer fue creado por Lisette Ma Neza, poeta belga-ruandesa. Rodeada de artistas ruandeses, ha creado un poema polifónico que combina música tradicional, danza y poesía hablada. Il peso di una donna è stato creato da Lisette Ma Neza, poetessa belga-ruandese. Circondata da artisti ruandesi, ha creato un poema polifonico che combina musica tradizionale, danza e poesia parlata.
