Description
English
Following a debut album devoted to African-American spirituals, American countertenor Reginald Mobley turns his attention to the English repertoire in a simple arrangement that primarily combines voice, lute, and viola da gamba. *Solitude* opens with Henry Purcell’s moving “Tis Nature’s Voice,” drifts through the deeply melancholic currents of John Dowland; and the journey continues to the American shores and the composers of today, Jonathan Woody and Douglas Balliett. Together with his collaborators Brandon Acker and Douglas Balliett, Reggie concludes this intimate journey with melodies arranged in the 19th century by the African American guitarist, composer, and abolitionist Justin Holland.
Deutsch
