Exposition YOANN MERIENNE La racine et la feuille – 26-09-2025 – Le Mans

Le centre d'art FIAA accueille une exposition dédiée à la série « La racine et la feuille » du peintre et sculpteur Yoann Mérienne. Les toiles et sculptures présentées au public furent produites au cours de ces dix dernières années. Dans cette série, le peintre questionne l'acte même de la création artistique en mêlant réinterprétation et expérimentation, mais aussi en brouillant les pistes entre peinture et sculpture. La série présentée rend entre autres hommage aux artistes dits « pompiers » de la fin du XIXe. Leur style se caractérise par un réalisme minutieux, des sujets historiques ou mythologiques grandiloquents, et une mise en scène théâtrale idéalisée. Cette imagerie foisonnante fut reprise dans une multitude d'œuvres plus récentes (péplums, jeux vidéos, bandes-dessinées..). Mérienne s'empare donc à son tour de ce courant artistique de manière frontale, novatrice, et personnelle.

The FIAA art center is hosting an exhibition dedicated to the "Root and Leaf" series by painter and sculptor Yoann Mérienne. The paintings and sculptures presented to the public were produced over the last ten years. In this series, the painter questions the very act of artistic creation, mixing reinterpretation and experimentation, but also blurring the lines between painting and sculpture. Among other things, the series pays homage to the so-called "pompier" artists of the late 19th century. Their style is characterized by meticulous realism, grandiloquent historical or mythological subjects and idealized theatrical staging. This abundant imagery has been used in a multitude of more recent works (peplums, video games, comic strips, etc.). Mérienne takes up this artistic trend in a frontal, innovative and personal way.

Im Kunstzentrum FIAA findet eine Ausstellung statt, die der Serie "La racine et la feuille" (Die Wurzel und das Blatt) des Malers und Bildhauers Yoann Mérienne gewidmet ist. Die Gemälde und Skulpturen, die dem Publikum präsentiert werden, sind in den letzten zehn Jahren entstanden. In dieser Serie hinterfragt der Maler den Akt des künstlerischen Schaffens selbst, indem er Neuinterpretationen und Experimente miteinander verbindet, aber auch indem er die Grenzen zwischen Malerei und Skulptur verwischt. Die gezeigte Serie ist unter anderem eine Hommage an die sogenannten "Feuerwehrkünstler" des ausgehenden 19. Ihr Stil zeichnete sich durch einen minutiösen Realismus, bombastische historische oder mythologische Themen und eine idealisierte theatralische Inszenierung aus. Diese überbordende Bilderwelt wurde in einer Vielzahl neuerer Werke (Peplums, Videospiele, Comics…) aufgegriffen. Mérienne greift diese Kunstrichtung auf frontale, innovative und persönliche Weise auf.

In het kunstcentrum FIAA is een tentoonstelling gewijd aan de serie "Root and Leaf" van schilder en beeldhouwer Yoann Mérienne. De tentoongestelde schilderijen en sculpturen werden in de afgelopen tien jaar gemaakt. In deze serie stelt de schilder de handeling zelf van artistieke creatie in vraag door herinterpretatie en experiment te vermengen, maar ook door de grenzen tussen schilderen en beeldhouwen te doen vervagen. De serie is onder andere een eerbetoon aan de zogenaamde "pompier" kunstenaars van het einde van de 19e eeuw. Hun stijl werd gekenmerkt door nauwgezet realisme, hoogdravende historische of mythologische onderwerpen en geïdealiseerde theatrale ensceneringen. Deze overvloedige beeldtaal is gebruikt in een groot aantal recentere werken (peplums, videospelletjes, stripverhalen, enz.). Mérienne haakt in op deze artistieke trend op een persoonlijke, vernieuwende en frontale manier.

Las pinturas y esculturas expuestas han sido realizadas a lo largo de los últimos diez años. En esta serie, el pintor cuestiona el acto mismo de la creación artística mezclando reinterpretación y experimentación, pero también desdibujando los límites entre pintura y escultura. Entre otras cosas, la serie rinde homenaje a los llamados artistas "pompier" de finales del siglo XIX. Su estilo se caracterizaba por un realismo meticuloso, temas históricos o mitológicos grandilocuentes y una puesta en escena teatral idealizada. Esta abundante imaginería se ha utilizado en multitud de obras más recientes (peplums, videojuegos, cómics, etc.). Mérienne retoma esta corriente artística de forma personal, innovadora y frontal.

Il centro d'arte FIAA ospita una mostra dedicata alla serie "Root and Leaf" del pittore e scultore Yoann Mérienne. I dipinti e le sculture in mostra sono stati realizzati negli ultimi dieci anni. In questa serie, il pittore mette in discussione l'atto stesso della creazione artistica mescolando reinterpretazione e sperimentazione, ma anche sfumando i confini tra pittura e scultura. La serie rende omaggio, tra l'altro, ai cosiddetti artisti "pompier" della fine del XIX secolo. Il loro stile era caratterizzato da un realismo meticoloso, da soggetti storici o mitologici grandiosi e da una messa in scena teatrale idealizzata. Questo abbondante immaginario è stato utilizzato in una moltitudine di opere più recenti (peplum, videogiochi, fumetti, ecc.). Mérienne riprende questa tendenza artistica in modo personale, innovativo e frontale.
