Journées Européennes du Patrimoine – Explorez une ancienne briqueterie – Saint-Imoges

La visite nous mènera à travers bois jusqu'à la briqueterie, pour y découvrir le four et sa cheminée, ainsi que les mares qui se sont formées tout autour suite à l'extraction de l'argile. Point de départ : mairie de Saint-Imoges. 25 places maximum – prévoir chaussures et vêtements adéquats pour une visite en forêt. Le site, au cœur de la forêt, comme les bâtiments désaffectés depuis les années 1930, sont exceptionnels mais fragiles. S’il a existé une trentaine de briqueteries/tuileries sur la Montagne de Reims, toutes ont aujourd’hui disparu. La briqueterie du Vertin est ainsi la dernière briqueterie (quasi) entière du territoire. Un témoignage rare de la fabrication de la terre cuite, qui a fortement contribué à construire le bâti traditionnel et a marqué l’identité architecturale locale.

The tour will take us through the woods to the brickworks, where we’ll explore the kiln and its chimney, as well as the ponds that formed all around it as a result of clay extraction. Starting point: Saint-Imoges Town Hall. Maximum of 25 participants—please wear appropriate shoes and clothing for a walk in the forest. The site, in the heart of the forest, like the buildings that have been abandoned since the 1930s, is exceptional but fragile. While there were once about thirty brick and tile factories on the Montagne de Reims, all have now disappeared. The Vertin brickworks is thus the last (nearly) intact brickworks in the region. It is a rare testament to the production of terracotta, which played a major role in the construction of traditional buildings and shaped the local architectural identity.

Die Führung führt uns durch den Wald bis zur Ziegelei, wo wir den Brennofen und seinen Schornstein sowie die Teiche entdecken können, die sich rundherum infolge des Tonabbaus gebildet haben. Ausgangspunkt: Rathaus von Saint-Imoges. Maximal 25 Plätze – bitte geeignete Schuhe und Kleidung für einen Rundgang im Wald mitbringen. Die Stätte im Herzen des Waldes sowie die seit den 1930er Jahren stillgelegten Gebäude sind außergewöhnlich, aber empfindlich. Zwar gab es auf der Montagne de Reims einst etwa dreißig Ziegel- und Dachziegelwerke, doch sind sie heute alle verschwunden. Die Ziegelei von Vertin ist somit die letzte (fast) vollständig erhaltene Ziegelei in der Region. Ein seltenes Zeugnis der Terrakotta-Herstellung, die maßgeblich zum Bau der traditionellen Gebäude beigetragen und die lokale architektonische Identität geprägt hat.

De rondleiding voert ons door het bos naar de steenfabriek, waar we de oven en de schoorsteen kunnen bekijken, evenals de poelen die rondom zijn ontstaan als gevolg van de kleiwinning. Vertrekpunt: gemeentehuis van Saint-Imoges. Maximaal 25 plaatsen – zorg voor geschikte schoenen en kleding voor een tocht door het bos. De locatie, midden in het bos, en de gebouwen die sinds de jaren 1930 niet meer in gebruik zijn, zijn uitzonderlijk maar kwetsbaar. Hoewel er op de Montagne de Reims ooit zo’n dertig baksteen- en dakpannenfabrieken waren, zijn ze vandaag de dag allemaal verdwenen. De baksteenfabriek van Le Vertin is daarmee de laatste (vrijwel) intacte baksteenfabriek in de regio. Een zeldzaam getuigenis van de productie van terracotta, die een belangrijke bijdrage heeft geleverd aan de bouw van de traditionele bebouwing en de lokale architectonische identiteit heeft bepaald.

La visita nos llevará a través del bosque hasta la fábrica de ladrillos, donde podremos descubrir el horno y su chimenea, así como los charcos que se han formado a su alrededor tras la extracción de la arcilla. Punto de partida: ayuntamiento de Saint-Imoges. 25 plazas como máximo; se recomienda llevar calzado y ropa adecuados para una visita por el bosque. El yacimiento, situado en pleno bosque, al igual que los edificios en desuso desde la década de 1930, es excepcional pero frágil. Aunque en la Montaña de Reims existieron unas treinta fábricas de ladrillos y tejas, hoy en día todas han desaparecido. La fábrica de ladrillos de Vertin es, por tanto, la última fábrica (casi) íntegra que queda en el territorio. Un testimonio poco común de la fabricación de terracota, que contribuyó en gran medida a la construcción de la arquitectura tradicional y marcó la identidad arquitectónica local.

La visita ci condurrà attraverso il bosco fino alla fabbrica di mattoni, dove potremo scoprire il forno e il suo camino, nonché le pozze che si sono formate tutt’intorno in seguito all’estrazione dell’argilla. Punto di partenza: municipio di Saint-Imoges. Massimo 25 posti disponibili – si raccomanda di indossare scarpe e abbigliamento adeguati per una visita nel bosco. Il sito, nel cuore della foresta, così come gli edifici in disuso sin dagli anni ’30, è eccezionale ma fragile. Sebbene sulla Montagna di Reims esistessero una trentina di fabbriche di mattoni e tegole, oggi sono tutte scomparse. La fabbrica di mattoni di Vertin è quindi l’ultima (quasi) integra del territorio. Una rara testimonianza della produzione di terracotta, che ha contribuito in modo determinante alla costruzione dell’edilizia tradizionale e ha segnato l’identità architettonica locale.
