Il y a 80 ans, en 1944, Figeac et son territoire étaient marqués par des engagements de résistance envers l’occupant et des actes de répression qui ont profondément affectés la population civile. Rafles, exécutions, destructions, mais aussi actions armées contre les nazis ou sabotages d’équipements utiles au Reich se sont déployés dans les mois précédant la Libération. Le 8 juin 1944, la ferme de Gabaudet, alors important centre de rassemblement des maquisards lotois, subissait l’attaque d’un détachement de la division SS Das Reich. Le site, non reconstruit après la guerre, témoigne encore de cette destruction. Il fait aujourd’hui l’objet d’un projet d’aménagement porté par le Grand-Figeac.
