Description

Eighty years ago, in 1944, Figeac and its surrounding area were marked by acts of resistance against the occupying forces and acts of repression that profoundly affected the civilian population. Roundups, executions, and destruction, as well as armed actions against the Nazis and acts of sabotage targeting equipment used by the Reich, took place in the months leading up to the Liberation. On June 8, 1944, the Gabaudet farm—then a major gathering place for resistance fighters from the Lot region—was attacked by a detachment of the SS Das Reich Division. The site, which was not rebuilt after the war, still bears witness to this destruction. It is now the focus of a development project led by the Grand-Figeac.

Events organized as part of the opening of the Cahors Memorial Museum.%A0
