Description

At the mouth of the Rance, transition between the Channel and the continent, Saint-Suliac, among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, has three natural areas: Mount Garrot to the south and the points of Garel and Puits to the north. Populated since ancient times – 6,000 objects from the Paleolithic era have been found there -, the site was used as a salt production site between 1736 and 1880. Traces of a monastery built in the 6th century by a Welsh prince on Mount Garrot and the stone foundations of a Norman stronghold from the 10th century that emerge at low tide attest to the rich history of the place.
