A 10 km au Nord-Est de Charleville-Mézières, NEUFMANIL abrite 1 228 "Néomesniliens", surnommés "Crayats" (le crayat étant une scorie de fonderie)Neufmanil fut rattaché à la France en 1769. Evacué en 1940, le village a été très endommagé (le "château" fut détruit en 1941). Un village "encerclé" par la forêt … : étendue sur environ 420 hectares, cette forêt se compose d'essences nobles (chêne, hêtre, charme mais aussi bouleau). La commune met un point d'honneur à offrir aux habitants et aux visiteurs un cadre de vie propre et fleuri, et ce, été comme hiver. Fort d'une vingtaine d'associations, c'est un village riche en animations.
