Aménagé dans l’ancienne abbaye de Saint-Julien (XIIe), ce « musée de la belle ouvrage » rassemble plus de 400 chefs d’œuvre de compagnons du tour de France, visant à prouver la maîtrise de leur métier. Une grille en fer forgé exceptionnelle demanda ainsi 14 ans de travail ! Classé « Musée de France », cet espace didactique présente aussi plus de 300 outils et une riche iconographie sur l’histoire du compagnonnage et son organisation actuelle.
En famille, suivez « Tourangeau la malice » qui vous expliquera avec humour l'histoire et les métiers du Compagnonnage grâce à 14 petites portes dissimulées dans le musée.

Located in the former Saint-Julien abbey (12th century), this "museum of beautiful works" houses a collection of over 400 masterpieces produced by the trade guild journeymen of France, in order to demonstrate their mastery of their craft.
