Indeed, when you travel around the Montbéliard region, you will discover that the religious buildings that adorn most of the villages are not Catholic churches, but Protestant temples. They stand in the centre of the village and bear witness to the religious history of this small French-speaking territory governed by German princes. In 1530, the German princes introduced the Protestant Reformation, transforming the old Catholic churches for Protestant worship and building the architectural masterpiece that is the Saint-Martin temple in Montbéliard. This temple was to become the preferred model for all subsequent buildings. Ten temples have been selected from the 70 Protestant buildings in the region. On pleasant hiking trails, it is proposed to stop at one of these ten temples to discover its history and architecture. Als u door de streek van Montbéliard reist, zult u inderdaad ontdekken dat de religieuze gebouwen die de meeste dorpen sieren geen katholieke kerken zijn, maar protestantse tempels. Ze staan in het centrum van het dorp en getuigen van de religieuze geschiedenis van dit kleine Franstalige gebied dat door Duitse vorsten werd bestuurd. In effetti, girando per la regione del Montbéliard, si scopre che gli edifici religiosi che adornano la maggior parte dei villaggi non sono chiese cattoliche, ma templi protestanti. Si trovano al centro del villaggio e testimoniano la storia religiosa di questo piccolo territorio francofono governato da principi tedeschi. Nel 1530, i principi tedeschi introdussero la Riforma protestante, trasformando le vecchie chiese cattoliche per il culto protestante e costruendo quel capolavoro architettonico che è il tempio di Saint-Martin a Montbéliard.
