Mystérieuse église qui rayonne pour ses trésors classiques et revisitée par des représentations locales ! Si elle est occasionnellement un lieu de concert, l’église Saint-Jean reste néanmoins le vrai rendez-vous liturgique du cœur de ville. Les commerces mitoyens rappellent que se tenait ici un des plus anciens marchés de la cité. Datant du XVème siècle, l’édifice actuel, de style gothique méridional, abrite un grand retable baroque du sculpteur Jean Brunelo : le Baptême du Christ y est représenté. À l’instar des grands maîtres classiques, les trois apôtres peints par un artiste local contemporain, Bruno Schmeltz, sont ici des habitants des vallées, d’authentiques bergers pyrénéens.

Mysterious church that shines for its classical treasures and revisited by local representations! Although it is occasionally a concert venue, the Church of St. John remains nevertheless the true liturgical meeting place in the heart of the city. The adjoining shops are a reminder that one of the oldest markets in the city was held here. Dating from the 15th century, the current building, in southern Gothic style, houses a large baroque altarpiece by the sculptor Jean Brunelo: the Baptism of Christ is represented there. Following the example of the great classical masters, the three apostles painted by a contemporary local artist, Bruno Schmeltz, are here inhabitants of the valleys, authentic Pyrenean shepherds.

Auch wenn sie gelegentlich als Konzertort dient, bleibt die St.-Johannes-Kirche dennoch der wahre liturgische Treffpunkt im Herzen der Stadt. Die angrenzenden Geschäfte erinnern daran, dass hier einst einer der ältesten Märkte der Stadt abgehalten wurde. Das heutige Gebäude aus dem 15. Jahrhundert im südgotischen Stil beherbergt ein großes barockes Altarbild des Bildhauers Jean Brunelo, auf dem die Taufe Christi dargestellt ist. Wie die großen klassischen Meister sind die drei Apostel, die von dem zeitgenössischen einheimischen Künstler Bruno Schmeltz gemalt wurden, hier Bewohner der Täler, authentische Pyrenäenhirten.

De aangrenzende winkels herinneren eraan dat hier een van de oudste markten van de stad werd gehouden. Het huidige gebouw, in zuidelijke gotische stijl, dateert uit de 15e eeuw en herbergt een groot barok altaarstuk van de beeldhouwer Jean Brunelo: de Doop van Christus is afgebeeld. Net als de grote klassieke meesters zijn de drie apostelen, geschilderd door een hedendaagse plaatselijke kunstenaar, Bruno Schmeltz, hier bewoners van de valleien, authentieke Pyreneese herders.

El edificio actual, de estilo gótico meridional, data del siglo XV y alberga un gran retablo barroco del escultor Jean Brunelo: se representa el Bautismo de Cristo. Como los grandes maestros clásicos, los tres apóstoles pintados por un artista local contemporáneo, Bruno Schmeltz, son aquí habitantes de los valles, auténticos pastores pirenaicos.

I negozi adiacenti ricordano che qui si teneva uno dei più antichi mercati della città. Risalente al XV secolo, l'attuale edificio, in stile gotico meridionale, ospita una grande pala d'altare barocca dello scultore Jean Brunelo: vi è raffigurato il Battesimo di Cristo. Come i grandi maestri classici, i tre apostoli dipinti da un artista locale contemporaneo, Bruno Schmeltz, sono qui abitanti delle valli, autentici pastori pirenaici.
