Grande Poste – Metz

Jouant, dans l’esprit de Guillaume II, un rôle unificateur, les postes étaient une des préoccupations essentielles de l’empereur. L’architecte Ludwig Bettcher, attaché aux postes d’Alsace-Lorraine, dessina le projet dans un style néo-roman rhénan, imposé par l'empereur Guillaume II, et dans un grand souci de fonctionnalité. Construite à partir de 1908, en grès rose des Vosges, la poste est inaugurée en 1911. Elle est aujourd’hui en attente de réhabilitation et visible de l'extérieur.

Playing a unifying role in the mind of Kaiser Wilhelm II, the post office was one of his key concerns. Architect Ludwig Bettcher, attached to the Alsace-Lorraine post office, designed the project in the Rhenish neo-Romanesque style imposed by Kaiser Wilhelm II, and with great attention to functionality. Built from 1908 in Vosges pink sandstone, the post office was inaugurated in 1911. Today, it awaits renovation and is visible from the outside.

Da das Postwesen im Sinne Wilhelms II. eine einigende Rolle spielte, war es eines der Hauptanliegen des Kaisers. Der Architekt Ludwig Bettcher, der für das Postwesen in Elsass-Lothringen zuständig war, entwarf das Projekt in einem von Kaiser Wilhelm II. vorgeschriebenen rheinisch-romanischen Stil, wobei er großen Wert auf Funktionalität legte. Das ab 1908 aus rosa Sandstein aus den Vogesen erbaute Postamt wurde 1911 eingeweiht. Heute wartet sie auf ihre Sanierung und ist von außen sichtbar.

Het postkantoor, dat een bindende rol speelde in het denken van keizer Wilhelm II, was een van zijn belangrijkste aandachtspunten. De architect Ludwig Bettcher, die verantwoordelijk was voor het postkantoor in Elzas-Lotharingen, ontwierp het project in de neoromaanse Rijnlandse stijl die werd opgelegd door keizer Wilhelm II, met veel aandacht voor functionaliteit. Het postkantoor werd in 1908 gebouwd in roze zandsteen uit de Vogezen en werd in 1911 ingewijd. Het wordt nu gerenoveerd en is van buitenaf te zien.

El arquitecto Ludwig Bettcher, encargado de la oficina de correos de Alsacia-Lorena, diseñó el proyecto en el estilo neorrománico renano impuesto por el emperador Guillermo II, prestando gran atención a la funcionalidad. Construida a partir de 1908 en arenisca rosa de los Vosgos, la oficina de correos se inauguró en 1911. Actualmente está pendiente de renovación y puede verse desde el exterior.

Svolgendo un ruolo unificante nella mente del Kaiser Guglielmo II, l'ufficio postale fu una delle sue principali preoccupazioni. L'architetto Ludwig Bettcher, responsabile dell'ufficio postale dell'Alsazia-Lorena, disegnò il progetto nello stile neoromanico renano imposto dall'imperatore Guglielmo II, con grande attenzione alla funzionalità. Costruito a partire dal 1908 in arenaria rosa dei Vosgi, l'ufficio postale fu inaugurato nel 1911. Attualmente è in attesa di ristrutturazione ed è visibile dall'esterno.
