Grand Théâtre – Bordeaux

Edifié par l'architecte Victor Louis, le Grand Théâtre, classé M.H., fut achevé en 1780. Sa façade est composée de douze colonnes corinthiennes et ornée de douze statues de pierre représentant les neuf muses et trois déesses.

Bordeaux's city centre features a marvellously elegant monument. The Grand Théâtre has delighted visitors and been the pride and joy of Bordeaux for over two centuries. The masterpiece by Victor Louis was built during the reign of Louis XVI. This Parisian architect was involved down to the smallest details, and planned not just a concert hall, but also a café, boutiques, and even gambling dens… Restoration over the past few years has restored the theatre's original lustre.

Das vom Architekten Victor Louis errichtete Grand Théâtre wurde 1780 fertiggestellt und steht unter Denkmalschutz. Seine Fassade besteht aus zwölf korinthischen Säulen und ist mit zwölf Steinstatuen geschmückt, die die neun Musen und drei Göttinnen darstellen.

Gebouwd door de architect Victor Louis, werd het Grand Théâtre, geklasseerd als historisch monument, voltooid in 1780. De gevel bestaat uit twaalf Korinthische zuilen en is versierd met twaalf stenen beelden die de negen muzen en drie godinnen voorstellen.
