Enceinte médiévale de Wangen

Les fortifications datent de la fin XIIIe siècle. Le mur d’enceinte est inscrit au monument historique depuis 1931. Ces fortifications avaient un diamètre de 100m. Ces remparts sont érigés en même temps que le château pour protéger la ville et son vignoble déjà florissants très convoités. Les remparts servaient également à se protéger des invasions : anglais, strasbourgeois, armagnacs, suédois et français en 1643 et 1646.

The fortifications date from the end of the 13th century. The surrounding wall is registered as a historical monument since 1931. These fortifications had a diameter of 100m. These ramparts were built at the same time as the castle to protect the city and its already flourishing vineyards. The ramparts were also used to protect the city from invasions: English, Strasbourg, Armagnac, Swedish and French in 1643 and 1646.
