Eglise Saint-Eutrope du Cormenier (Beauvoir-sur-Niort) – Beauvoir-sur-Niort

L'église romane est bâtie sous le patronage de l’abbaye poitevine Saint-Jean-de-Montierneuf, mais dans le diocèse de Saintes. Elle est dédiée à saint Eutrope, le premier évêque de Saintes martyrisé au IVème siècle. Dans la première moitié du XIIème siècle, son clocher n’existe plus ou n’a jamais été réalisé se réduisant aujourd’hui à une bâtisse inachevée. Victime des guerres de Religion, elle est détruite aux deux tiers, puis réparée en 1744. Une réfection totale de la nef est entreprise en 1877 grâce au curé, l’abbé Léon Brisson et à la générosité de quelques familles. La travée sous clocher et l’abside, remarquables spécimens du style roman saintongeais, sont classées en 1909 au titre des Monuments historiques.

The Romanesque church was built under the patronage of the Poitevine abbey of Saint-Jean-de-Monterneuf, but in the diocese of Saintes. It is dedicated to Saint Eutrope, the first bishop of Saintes martyred in the 4th century. In the first half of the twelfth century, its bell tower no longer exists or has never been realized, reducing itself today to an unfinished building. A victim of the Wars of Religion, it was destroyed in two-thirds and repaired in 1744. A total renovation of the nave was undertaken in 1877 thanks to the parish priest, Abbé Léon Brisson and the generosity of some families. The span under the bell tower and the apse, remarkable specimens of the Saintongeais Romanesque style, were classified in 1909 as Historical Monuments.

Die Kirche wurde im 12. Jh. unter der Schirmherrschaft der Abtei von Poitiers errichtet, die zur Diözese von Saintes gehörte: Dieser Zustand bestand bis zur Revolution. Het chevet is prachtig; de dubbele zuilen die tot aan het plafond reiken omzomen de drie meest zuidelijke glasramen en doen dienst als elegante steunberen. In combinatie met de kleine kolommen en bogen vormen ze een geheel van verticale lijnen.

En 1877 se emprendió una reconstrucción total de la nave gracias al párroco, el abad Leon Brisson, y a la generosidad de algunas familias. El tramo bajo campanario y el ábside, notables especímenes del estilo románico saintongeais, fueron clasificados en 1909 como monumentos históricos.
