Château d'Ussé – Rigny-Ussé

Les jardins à la Française en terrasses, terminés en 1664, furent dessinés par Le Nôtre. Autour d’un bassin rond, deux espaces gazonnés soulignés de chaque côté par des broderies de buis donnent un cadre aux fleurs. Ce jardin magnifiquement structuré, sur une terrasse en contre-bas du château, est visible de la terrasse supérieure qui offre un admirable point de vue sur le fleuve. Richement fleuri, il est bordé par des orangers dont certains, fait exceptionnel, datent d’avant 1789. Une vaste orangerie a été construite pour l’hivernage à cette occasion Les deux cèdres du Liban, près de la chapelle, ont été offerts par Chateaubriand à la Duchesse de Duras en 1808.
