The fortress dates from the 11th century and the private château, lived in, from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The interior, authentic Second empire, houses a large collection of primitive Italian paintings, the collection of Cardinal Fesch and Polish gold- and silver-works and various objets d'art. The treasure of this distinctive town, the Montrésor castle presents a dual face: the imposing vestiges of the 11th century fortress, built by Foulques Nerra, and the Renaissance castle with its main wing overlooking the Indrois. Die Festung stammt aus dem 11. Jh. und das privat- und bewohntes Schloss aus dem 15.-16. Jh. Der Innenraum, wahrer Zeuge des Zweiten Kaiserreichs, beherbergt eine große Sammlung von italienischen Primitive Gemälde, Sammlung des Kardinals Fesch und Goldschmiedekunst und polnische Kunstgegenstände.

Het fort dateert uit de 11e eeuw en het bewoonde privékasteel uit de 15e en 16e eeuw. Het interieur dateert uit het Tweede Keizerrijk en herbergt een grote collectie Italiaanse primitieve schilderijen, een collectie van Kardinaal Fesch, kunstsmeedwerk en Poolse kunstvoorwerpen.
