Du haut de son éperon (965m) dominant la vallée de l’Ariège, avec ses 2 enceintes, Lordat est considéré comme l’une des plus grandes forteresses médiévales de l’ancien comté de Foix. De rang comtal puis royal, repaire cathare, construit en plusieurs phases, il est mentionné dans des écrits dès 1030, il a connu une occupation du XIème au XVIIème siècle. Il offre un panorama remarquable sur le fond de la vallée. Marche d'approche au château de 10 minutes environ. Nombreuses animations, spectacles de vols de rapaces, visites commentées en juillet et août… Entrée gratuite hors jours d'animations.

Lordat liegt auf einem Bergsporn (965 m), der das Tal der Ariège überragt, und gilt mit seinen zwei Stadtmauern als eine der größten mittelalterlichen Festungen der ehemaligen Grafschaft Foix.
