Construit sur un promontoire rocheux au XIe siècle, le château, propriété de la famille Beaumont n'a eu cesse de renforcer son système défensif et aurait compté jusqu'à trois enceintes successives. Aujourd'hui, suivez l'enceinte de 700 m de long, scandée de 38 tours dont certaines sont aménagées comme point d'appui isolé, flânez devant les ruines romantiques du logis XVe siècle. De l'esplanade, profitez de la vue sur la Chapelle St Cyprien et sur les anciens abattoirs XIXe siècle. Le logis néo-gothique construit au XIXe siècle abrite des expositions temporaires, un salon de sculptures en mars et un salon de peintures en mai. Un symposium de sculptures a lieu tous les ans dans l'enceinte du château. Built on a rocky promontory in the 11th century, the château, owned by the Beaumont family, has constantly reinforced its defensive system, with up to three successive enclosures. Today, you can follow the 700 m-long enclosure, punctuated by 38 towers, some of which have been set up as isolated strongholds, and stroll past the romantic ruins of the 15th-century dwelling. From the esplanade, take in the view of the Chapelle St Cyprien and the former 19th-century abattoirs. The neo-Gothic dwelling, built in the 19th century, hosts temporary exhibitions, including a sculpture show in March and a painting show in May.
