A l’entrée de la Vallée de la Thur, le village de Bitschwiller-les-Thann est connu pour son point culmiant : le Thanner Hubel (1184m d’altitude). Ce sommet et sa ferme auberge sont au centre d’un réseau de circuits de randonnées et de pistes de ski. C’est aussi une commune avec un passé historique : l'église datant de 1838 est célèbre pour ses orgues Callinet. En 1836, Bitschwiller construisait des locomotives et c'est à cette époque là qu'y fut inventé le sifflet à vapeur ; le "Dampfpfifla" qui a donné son nom à un groupe folklorique local.

At the entrance to the Thur Valley, the village of Bitschwiller-les-Thann is famous for its highest point: the Thanner Hubel (1184m). This peak and its farmhouse are at the center of a network of hiking trails and ski slopes. It's also a commune with a storied past: the church dating from 1838 is famous for its Callinet organs. In 1836, Bitschwiller was building locomotives, and it was at this time that the steam whistle was invented: the "Dampfpfifla", which gave its name to a local folk group.
