As a photographer of human heritage, Gilles Perrin travels the world to meet peoples and cultures threatened with extinction. Far from the beaten path, he creates social and documentary photography in which each portrait stems from a genuine encounter. With his large-format view camera, he takes the time to establish a dialogue, build trust, and create a ritual that give his images their full power. Each shot becomes a moment of sharing, where the gaze, emotion, and respect for the other are at the heart of the process. By presenting each person he photographs with their original portrait, he extends this unique exchange and makes each image a poignant testament to an authentic encounter.
