Description

A proposal by Fræme, Botanique and ISELP The Belgian art scene crosses borders to meet the Marseilles public. Ten artists from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation exhibit their work in Marseille, alongside two local artists invited for the occasion. Tipping Point refers to the moment when a society reaches a point of no return, tipping irretrievably towards a new configuration. Today, this sense of rupture is omnipresent: climate upheavals, digital acceleration and political polarization, in particular, are generating growing anxiety about the future. Under the name Tipping Point, the exhibition brings together ten artists from the French-speaking Belgian scene and two from Marseilles, whose works all share a strong physical presence. Some draw on the digital world or virtual reality, transposing them into a palpable materiality; others question concrete material, its texture, its plastic qualities. In all cases, this embodied presence is accompanied by a cold, anxious emotion, in tune with the upheavals of a changing Humanity. Faced with a world that seems to be slipping through our fingers, these artists deliberately or otherwise capture the essence of this tipping point. And above all, through their practices, they open up alternative paths for us to follow. Guest artists: Stephan Balleux, Maëlle Dufour, Charlotte Gautier Van Tour, Amandine Guruceaga, Eva L?Hoest, Gérard Meurant, Sabrina Montiel-Soto, Mountaincutters, Stéphanie Roland, Jonathan Sullam, Anna Safiatou Touré, Emmanuel Van der Auwera ISELP is a center for the dissemination and research of contemporary art. Through a wide range of activities, the Institute invites diverse audiences to explore current art forms. Each year, the Institute organizes several exhibitions and offers a discursive program combining lectures, courses and podcasts. ISELP also hosts artistic, scientific and mediation residencies. Last but not least, educational activities round out the offering, encouraging encounters and reflection around art. Le Botanique, in Brussels, is a place where the visual arts and music meet. Formerly a botanical garden, it is now the cultural center of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, with some fifteen exhibitions and over 500 concerts a year. Committed to promoting emerging creation, Le Botanique supports local artists and encourages experimentation and artistic dialogue.
